Salliedough is a vegan artisan panadería rooted in Oʻahu. We started vegan out of love for family. When someone at our table needed baked goods without animal products, we found how few good options there were, and how often a lifestyle choice meant settling for less. So we decided to bake the kind of bread we wished we could find: no dairy or eggs, soul-nourishing, and made for everyone.

No one sits out, and no one has to ask twice.

Naturally cultivated with masa madre (sourdough starter) and slow fermentation, our breads are a map of Mexican mestizaje (the blending of cultures): some stay true to tradition, others to European craft and the seasonal ingredients of Hawaiʻi. Sourdough loaves, bolillos, banana breads, cookies, and everything in between. We bake with organic flours and minimally processed, dye-free ingredients that are easy to pronounce, and no commercial yeast, ever, because bread that welcomes more people should also be made with care.

Meet Sallie

Sallie is our snail, and she's the heart of the bakery. She's named for our masa madre (sourdough starter), the living culture behind everything we bake, and she carries the lesson that starter teaches every day: good things take time. Snails don't rush, and neither does great bread. Sallie reminds us to slow down, live in the moment, and let go of what we can't control.
